Hello all,
I just got back from
Foreplay’s 5th of May eVANt and I had a great time. The
weather was great, and fun was had by all. We had over 50 trucks, which
is a great turnout. Our upcoming meeting is on June 16th at
Florida Camp Land I hope everyone can attend. The Nationals in July is
the next eVANt after that, which I hope a lot of people from Florida
attend. The Labor Day eVANt in Ocala might even have a golf outing
scheduled, let me know if you guys would be interested showcap@aol.com.
I would like to get some Vanners to go with me to GSVR III in Cherokee
NC on the 5th and 6th of October if you can’t go
with your own Van share the ride with someone else, half the expense and
half the gas. We are moving quickly through the year, and soon the
Council Of Councils will be upon us. This has been a great year so far
with all of the participation lets keep it up. I recently repainted my
van and put some new accents on it so you will be seeing me in the van
shows more often. Now to tackle the interior!!! I hope everyone is doing
well T.I.E T.I.S.
Shogun (Florida Van Council President)
ForePlay
would like to thank all the vanners who came to Beverly Beach. It takes
everyone to make any eVANt a success. Those who attended had a wonderful
time. The beach was beautiful. The dolphin kept the sharks away. The
kids had plenty of activities. Nothing could ruin the day not even
loosing an expensive fishing pole. When Ila called Richie to breakfast
he had all his equipment setup and ready. So he just ran up to grab his
breakfast. However when he returned the tide had washed his pole out to
sea.
Later that evening the surf was perfect for surfing. Only
something hard hit a surfers board inquisitive as he was he picked it
up…Richie’s fishing rod. When he came ashore he asked Richie if
anyone had lost a rod. --- Richie must have done something right.
The Tiki Bar drew its usual crowd. The beverages were good and
six-pack won the basket. Again he won it on the extra ticket.
The van show was a success. Buffalo Bob’s suggestions for van
judging worked. His plaques were a huge hit.
See pictures of Beverly beach on the web Beverly
Beach Photos
and page 7 this issue.

Dear FVC,
I'm
having fun in summer camp. The weather has been awesome and I am
enjoying living in Florida at the beach. I've already made 2 road trips
and have at least 2 more planned. The planned trip to NC is fizzling out
and will probably remain just a family gathering in VA Beach instead.
Don't forget to get your
goodie bag donations and door prizes to Buffalo Bob and Carol for the
Council of Councils. I believe we may be having an auction again so see
if you have any items to donate to the cause.
Beverly
Beach will be behind us before you read this so I hope to see all of you
there and you have enjoyed yourselves. There is still stuff to do for
Labor Day eVANt and who can forget about the Keys and the Pig Roast
still to come.
My
sister had a nice visit here in early April but was in a very serious
auto accident on the Interstate after she returned. A woman on a cell
phone and arguing with one of her passengers came across 3 lanes of
traffic, T-boned Cyndi, pushed her into another lane where she was hit
by 3 more cars. Cyndi's car is totaled and she has a very bad case of
whiplash but getting stronger. Of course, the person causing the
accident doesn't have insurance.
Be sure
to bring friends to eVANts, even if they only spend the day. The best
way to recruit is to show them what we are about.
Be good to
yourselves and one another,
Cari
________________________________________________________________________
I just want to thank
everyone for being so understanding when I was putting this issue
together. I got everything except for the Beverly Beach info finished
before May 1, which is when my retention meetings begin.
Don’t forget to bring a covered dish to the next FVC meeting.
Ila is
having another baby girl around the end of August! Ila is doing her part
to repopulate the FVC. If you can’t or don’t want any more babies
why don’t you try to bring a friend or three.

Meeting
Minutes
FLORIDA
VAN COUNCIL
Minutes of the March 17, 2007 meeting at Okee-Tantie
Campground and Marina near Okeechobee are as follows:
Cale called the meeting to order.
Minutes of the January 20, 2007 meeting
were read and approved.
There were 7 clubs present and I Excused Absence (out
of 14 clubs total) during roll call.
Linard gave the Treasurer's report and advised the members
he only has 8 of the 2007 Vanning Calendars left.
They are $15 each.
FVC
NEWSLETTER UPDATE:
Agnes noted that the deadline for
input to the next newsletter is May 19.
OLD
BUSINESS:
Cale got a letter from the Ocala Ranch RV Resort
confirming the FVC event August 31 – September 3 and the rates.
NEW
BUSINESS:
John Attrill,
our friend from the UK, asked
Cale if the FVC would object to him scheduling a “Vanners at Sea”
cruise out of Port Canaveral to Nassau – Freeport from February 3 –
7, 2008. Inside cabins
would be $307 per person and seaside would be $347.
20 cabins have been reserved.
The group concluded that we had no objections, as there will be
no conflict with the 2008 CofC meeting, which doesn’t start until
February 7. The ship will
be back in port early on the morning of February 7.
Cale
said he wants to get a group together for an out-of-state van run this
year. It was suggested that Great Smoky Mountain Van Reunion III (GSVR
III) would be a good choice.
Cale
also mentioned that there is a benefit Poker Run on Sunday, April 1 from
Orange City through Osteen, Samsula, Deland, and back to Orange City. They flyer will be put on the FVC website this weekend.

VAN JUDGING:
Buffalo Bob said it’s pretty
silly to have more trophies than vans in the show. This has come about as a result of the large number of
classes and the fewer number of vans in each show.
After some discussion, a motion by Judith (seconded by Carol)
that, for the year 2007, the FVC limit the minimum number of required
trophies to:
Best of Show
Best Exterior
Best Interior
Best Full Custom
Best Street Custom
was carried by a hand vote of 20
FOR and 1 AGAINST. During
subsequent discussion Magoo stated that a club should be able to give
out as many van judging trophies as they wanted.
It was clarified that the motion does not limit the maximum
number of trophies that can be presented, just the minimum.
It was also stated that this motion is in effect for the calendar
year 2007 only. If the
council likes the idea, then a motion to make the change permanent could
be presented sometime during the year 2008.
Cari made a motion to adjourn and
the meeting was concluded.
Respectfully submitted,
Scribe John
Secretary

LETTERS
TO VANTASY
Having a van problem?
Let Vantasy help you out.
Dear
Vantasy,
Gina
and I called Lew for directions to the Mall at Millenia. He gave us specific directions to go down I-4, 1 exit past
John Young Parkway and get off at Conor.
Later, we called up and told him we were all the way down at U.S.
27 and hadn’t seen the mall yet.
He told us to take a 180 and go back.
An hour later we called him back as we were going North on the
turnpike. We had to keep
calling and getting directions every half hour until we finally got
there. It wasn’t all bad,
we found a killer pair of shoes for only $989.00.
Can you teach Lew how to give better directions?
What should we do?
Party Girl
Dear Party Girl,
Let’s see, Lew regularly gets all the way down to the Keys
every October and has managed to get to NATS that are over 1000 miles
away. Hmmmmm! I got
it! Move to the other coast
and join the Southern California Van Council.
That will keep you away from Linard.
I’m afraid he would have a heart attack if he found out that
anyone in our council spent $989.00 for a pair of shoes.
I assume that they must be alligator shoes, and, for that price,
the alligator was still alive. I’m
not sure I’ve spent $989.00 for all the shoes I ever bought in my
whole life
