FLORIDA VAN COUNCIL

Minutes of the January 20, 2007 meeting at River Forest Campground near Deland are as follows:
Cale called the meeting to order.

Minutes of the November 11, 2006 meeting were read and approved with one correction. The reference to the Holiday Inn under Bid for 2008 Council of Councils meeting should have read, "early bird dinner and breakfast special for $9."

There were 14 clubs present (out of 14 clubs total) during roll call. It has been a long time since there was 100% club attendance. Steve, from Relentless Vanners (out of New Hampshire) got a round of applause for his long journey to attend.

Linard gave the Treasurer's report and showed the members the 2007 Vanning Calendars the FVC ordered.

GUESTS:

Space Man introduced Paul, a guest from Pennsylvania, to a round of applause.

FVC NEWSLETTER UPDATE:

Agnes noted that she still had 2 newsletters returned by the Postal Service as undeliverable. One was handed to a member to deliver, and the other name will be taken off the list

OLD BUSINESS:

There was no old business.

NEW BUSINESS:

Judith noted that she still had 7 of the "United We Van" bracelets available.

Iceman said the FVC should send Quinton a get-well card.

It was noted that there will not be an FVC meeting at the Cinco de Mayo event. The next meeting on March 17 will be at Okee-Tantie, near Okeechobee. The 2007 corrected FVC meeting dates and locations are as follows:

VAN-IN UPDATES:

Vanners for Vanners January 19 - 21, 2007

River Forest Group camping area near Deland. Judith thanked everyone who attended. She said we’d have it again next year, right here, on January 18 – 20, 2008. Please pre-reg. See her today for flyers.

Broward Primitive still at Sidewinder’s, February 23 - 25. $10. This will also be a work party to help Tom finish the house.

Coastal Early to mid-April, 2007 at Thunder Gulch Campground, just north of Bunnell. Considering a date around Easter weekend. They are also considering a date change to Memorial Day weekend, and possibly, another location.

Foreplay May 5, 2007

Beverly Beach. Another "Cinco de Mayo" has been confirmed. Flyers are available at this meeting and will be on the FVC website.

Broward October 2007

Sunshine Key. Mile marker 39 on U.S. Highway 1. Motor homes will cost more this year. Negotiations for space are based on 3 vans per site and the campground wants more money for the bigger vehicles.

VAN-IN PROPOSALS:

Cale talked to the campground at Ocala and they will be happy to have us back for an FVC-sponsored event. Cale will get back to the members after he has discussed details of the event with the other officers. Details will be provided at the March 17 meeting down on the edge of Lake Okeechobee. Clubs will be expected to volunteer to do their part in putting on the event.

It was noted that there is a good event nearby in October. Great Smoky mountain Van Reunion (GSVR) III is going on October 5 – 7, 2007 in Cherokee, NC. It is a casual event and well worth the trip.

Cari noted that she would again be going up to the mountains the second weekend after Memorial Day for a couple of days. Contact her if you’re interested in going. The dates will be June 9 & 10.
