There were 8 clubs present and 1 Excused Absence (out of 14 clubs total) during roll call.

Linard gave the Treasurer's report.

FVC NEWSLETTER UPDATE:

Agnes noted that she has no way of telling who is, or is not, getting the newsletter.  So, make sure that you let her know if someone in your club is not getting their newsletter.

OLD BUSINESS:  FVC Hosting the 2008 Council of Councils Meeting:

By a vote of 17 FOR and 1 AGAINST, the members voted to have the FVC make a bid on hosting the 2008 Council of Councils (CofC) meeting.  Judith noted that there probably will also be bids put forth at the 2007 CofC meeting to host the 2008 meeting in England, and Hawaii.

Cari has located a potential site in Cocoa Beach, the Holiday Inn.  Judith and Cari will be on a scouting trip to check it out.   Any members interested in joining them should let Cari or Judith know.  Tentative date would probably be February 8 – 9, 2008.  Judith noted that most of us still have our “host” vests from the 2004 meeting so we’ll all be dressed alike.

Coastal West suggested we bid on hosting the meeting on a 3-day cruise.  Judith noted that it is really impractical to do that nowadays.  There are meetings and seminars all day Friday, and the attendees arrive throughout the week.  However, she did note that, instead of a pajama party on Friday night, we might offer, as an option, a one-day gambling cruise on Friday.

VAN-IN UPDATES:

FVC

September 1 – 4, 2006

Ocala Ranch RV Park. 2559 S.W. Hwy 484, Ocala, FL 34473.  877-809-1100. www.OcalaRanchRV.com   Celia Van noted that we would probably not have souvenir t-shirts available.  Cale noted that he would bring the karaoke equipment Friday night, and it would be available all weekend if we wanted to use it for an Open Mic, joke telling contest, or whatever.

Steve Capps noted that Dave would come to the event and do tattooing, if there was enough interest.  Celia Van noted that a glass etcher might show up, also.  Cale noted that we might end up giving out trophies at the event, then mailing the individual trophy plaque to each winner.

Broward

Halloween in the Keys – October 27 – 29, 2006

Sunshine Key – Mile Marker 39, U.S. 1, in the Florida Keys.  Linard noted that some of the club members were going to the campground next weekend to iron out any final details.  Cale noted, for those who have a dive certification, there would be a dive trip.  If you want to come early or stay late, the camping fee is $25/night, payable directly to the campground.  Be sure to call and make a reservation in advance and tell them you are with the vanning group.

NEW BUSINESS:

A motion by Lew that the FVC purchase 50 trophy “van tops” at approximately $4.25 each was carried by a vote of 16 FOR and 2 AGAINST.  That way, if we wanted to recycle trophies, or use new non-van trophies donated by members, we would have the appropriate tops.

Ila Jean noted Madison’s birthday party.

John noted that the FVC web site has been so successful that we got a request for a membership application from England.

Iceman made a motion to adjourn and the meeting was concluded.

Respectfully submitted,
